In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare's collected works of 1623, or the First Folio, the Fisher Library is hosting a one-day display of Shakespeare's Four Folios, which were published in London between 1623 and 1685. In addition, students from UofT's Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies will be reading a selection of early texts of Shakespeare's works.

This free event is on a drop-in basis. All are welcome to attend.

The Thomas Fisher Library is located at 120 St. George Street, adjacent to Robarts Library, to the south. Information about building access will be posted at street level on the day of the event. If you have any questions or concerns or require support in accessing the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, please contact the reference desk at 416-978-5285 or email us at fisher.library@utoronto.ca 

Visitors can access the library via the stairs at the corner of St. George & Harbord Streets. Enter the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library from the side entrance at the top of the stairs on the left (not the revolving doors).  Accessible entrance (no stairs): 

  • Enter Robarts Library from the street-level St. George Street entrance and scan TCard at the screening checkpoint (U of T students, staff and faculty), or inform staff that you are attending an event at the Fisher Library.  
  • Keep right, and continue straight pass the Information Commons computers and then take the escalators or elevators to get to the 2nd floor. 
  • From the elevators: exit the elevator, go through the gates and turn left towards the other set of gates. Once through the second set of gates, turn right and proceed towards the Fisher Library. To the right of the steps, there is a ramp. 
  • From the escalators: proceed through the gates, turn right, and proceed towards the Fisher Library. To the right of the steps, there is a ramp.
